Gaurdianship

my farther is a paranoid schitzophernic and has been in behavorial hospitals many times. The doctor has recommended that someone take gaurdianship over him. Can you tell me what the process (including an estimate cost) is to obtain this and what all it entales?

You are going to need an attorney who handles guardianships to help you with this. You will have to provide him or her with a lot more details before he or she can give you a realistic idea of the total cost. (In Harris County, just the filing fees run almost $250)

As to what all is involved, it depends. Are you talking about just a Guardian of the Person or will you also need a Guardian of the Estate. Hopefully you can find a good attorney in your area who can talk you through the entire process. Good luck!
