Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Ok my girlfriend has been trying to get her ex-husband to pick up a 1962 Chevy Impala since about 2008 which to this date ( 6-07-2011) is still sitting in her garage. She has just informed me that there was a divorce decree that was issued 2-18-2009 and it stated that the car must be out of her garage by 5-15-2009. She would like to keep the car and fix it and we were wondering if the car is officially abandoned and she can keep it now or if there is a process she must go through first. Her ex-husband has made no attempt what so ever to retrieve the vehicle.

There's no answer that anyone can give you that will eliminate the possibility that she will spend thousands of dollars on the car only to have him come make a claim that it is now his.
She doesn't need the hassle. If he lives within 100 miles, just take the car to him and park it in his driveway.
