Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My grandchildren have been living with me for the past year. My daughter, their mother, passed away 4 years ago. Their father had them until he got into legal trouble and went to jail. He gave me power of attorney for medical and educational purposes back when he first got into trouble. His probation was just revoked and he is about to go back to jail. The children are with his sister now and I want to know if I have any right to get them back.

You have standing to petition the court for conservatorship, but you should proceed quickly, while the stay with you is still recent. Retain a family lawyer to assist you in petitioning the court and preparing your case.
