I am a grandmother of 4 children under the age of 5, thier parents have given up thier rights, and what is the advantage of adoption over just having custody?

Usually if you have custody, someone else has visitation rights and can file motions altering those rights in the future. Also that other person has to pay child support to you.
In an adoption situation, you are the parent. The likelihood of interference or support from another is greatly reduced.
