Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
i am the grandmother, and my daughter and granddaughter live with me, she is on probation and just got arrested again last night. the has joint custody with the father and she is the custodial parent, this is through the attorney general office. I want to find out what kind of power of attorney paper work we need to get filled out just in case she has to stay in jail so that i can take care of the baby while she is gone

There is a relatively new provision in the Family Code that gives a parent the right to consent to a close relative being able to care for a child. the father will have to be notified. It is possible that the father may want to change his orders so that he would be the custodial parent. Whether he could do so would be up to the judge. You should probably consult with a family law attorney before doing anything.
