Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Grandparent seeking custody of 1 y/o granddaughter

My mother in law is going to try to get my sister in law to sign over permament custody of her granddaughter to her. CPS is involved and my sister in law has not been complying w/ any of CPS's mandates. In order to keep the granddaughter from being taken into foster care, my mother in law wants to get permament custody. What are the steps she needs to take? She doesn't have a whole lot of money, but is stable.

Thanks and God Bless

I urge you to find an attorney and do it the right way.

There might be free legal services if she qualifies.

She can visit my website for links to free legal services at www.famiylaw4u.com or call the State Bar of Texas for leads.

Good luck!

It is NOT CPS's job to help your mother! She needs her own attorney!!!!!

I agree with Ms. Brochstein. You also do not mention what happened to the father. There are many qualified and competent attorneys who will accept payment plans. Depending upon the position of the mother and of the father, this may not be as expensive as you imagine.
