Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Grandparents custody

My parents have raised my nephew nearly all of his first year of life. He will be one in May. My parents want to get custody of him due to his unfit parents. The mom was doing drugs, no place to live and has no insurance to take care of him. She also has claimed that the dad has been abusive to her. The dad has a job, a house, going to school, no drugs, but the abusive claim is still there. The child has never been abused. The dad is my brother. What kind of things should my parents do to gain custody?

Re: Grandparents custody

Your parents will have to document this whole story from beginning to end, find any documents - police reports, CPS investigations, and secure the testimony of witnesses who will confirm every detail.

Rather than spend this money in litigation which could get very expensive, they might consider compensating the mother and father to relinquish their parental rights.

No matter how its done, it won't be easy.
