Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Do grandparents have any rights?
Our daughter left our grandson in our custody in Sept. She is Bi-polar with Schzoid effective disorder. She has not been on medication since Aug. She willing gave Knox up, and now wants him back. Still not on medication. Stating we can't do anything about it, she's not crazy. Meg has been commited to ASH 3 years ago, and Shoal Creek last Spring with pyschotic episodes. She can be violent, and has been in the past. Knox is 19 months old and very willful child. It takes alot of patience dealing with him, she doesn't have the ability to cope with that. She has come very close to hurting him twice before. She is listening to people around her telling her, ''get him back'' They do not know her as we do. i'm very sorry it has come to this level, how ever the bady's needs have to come 1st

Re: Do grandparents have any rights?
There are many questions created by your post. Where is the baby's father? Are there any court orders regarding the child? Where was the baby during prior commitments? Have any of the past episodes been documented with the police or CPS or therapists? Since the child's well-being is in jeopardy, and since mom willingly placed him with you, you have standing to petition the court. It may be appropriate to notify CPS. You need to retain a family law lawyer immediately to properly handle this issue, as it can become very complicated. I wish you well.
