Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
grandparents rights?
In my divorce degree there is a section for my childrens grandparents to have visitation. My exhusband is supposed to have standard visitation every 1st 3rd 5th weekend ect. In the degree the grandparents attorney intervened and it says they are designated adults to pick up my children, provide medical attention and have visitation on the 5th weekend. They have the same rights as their father and if their father decides not to see them on his time they get to keep them. He pays 260.00 in child support for three kids. Problem is their father never sees them. He has only seen them a few times in the last year but their grandparents are here every other weekend to pick them up. If they can exercise the same visitation rights and provide medical consent in his absence why shouldnt they have the same financial responsiblities and pay child support? The other problem is I live in Corpus Christi, my divorce is out of Laredo since my ex lived there and the grandparents now live in San Antonio.

Re: grandparents rights?
You should discuss it with a lawyer in Corpus Christi. This could be considered to be a corruption of the decree if the visitation was for the father and the grandparents are the ones actually using the visitation time.

Re: grandparents rights?
It appears that you are looking for money. Your children are unfortunate that they do not see their father, they are lucky to have such caring and dilligent grandparents. Child support is the responsibility of parents(not garandparents}. If you want to make things more difficult in a difficult situation, file a lawsuit.
