Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
grandparents rights
We have a 20 month grandson who has lived with us along with his mother (our daughter) since birth. No father is listed on the birth cert. She is about to move out with a man (not the father) next month. What are our rights as grandparents and what are this man's rights to our grandson? They plan to live together, not marry and my husband and I have had serious concerns about this man. He along with his family have drinking issues. Our grandson also has a condition called ONH (optic nerve hypolpasis, which effects his eyes. I keep him each day and have to patch his good eye, renduring him blind for 1 hour to help strengthen his bad eye and he needs to see a neurogogist and encrodnoligist due to this condition. We do not support this situation of them moving out and feel our grandson will be the who suffers.
We need to know the laws, our rights and what if anything we can do to ensure the well-being of our grandson

Re: grandparents rights
You can file a Suit Affecting Parent Child Relationship to gain custody of the child alleging it is the child's best interest to stay with you. You better do this right now to have a better chance of success. I urge you to contact an attorney right away to get started on this process.
