Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Grandparents Rights in Texas
My ex inlaws took me to court last summer to get visitation of my children. They were awarded one weekend per month, but decided to drop the suit. I have now decided (after many incidences regarding the safety of my chidren) that they are not to go over there anymore. I continued visitation after the original suit in order to maintain peace, but my ex father in law has allowed my children to use chainsaws (they are 5 and 6) and my ex inlaws have repeatedly argued in front of my children and my children have called me to come and pick them up. They are disturbed by the arguing and I do not feel that it is healthy for them to witnes the type of stuff that goes on in that household. My ex-husband has terminated his parental rights voluntarily as of 2004. He does not see the children or pay child support (none ordered). Can the ex inlaws reopen the suit if they have already basically agreed that I am a fit mother capable of determining where my children visit?

Am not sure what you mean by 'decided to drop the suit'. Has the case been dismissed? Within the last 30 days, or earlier? If there is no court order granting them visitation, then you are not obligated to provide visitation. Also if the earlier orders were temporary, and it has been more than 30 days since the dismissal, they would have to reinstitute the lawsuit to claim visitation again. In that event, be prepared with evidence - proof - of your allegations.
