Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Guardianship over my grandchildren

I am the grandparent of my son two children (age 2 and 7 months) who been living in my home sense birth, along with the mother and father. While my son the father was in jail serving time on outstanding unpaid tickets, the mother move out into another man and his mother, leaving the children with me. She does come bye and see them two - three times a week but days will go by without a call/visit from her. Now the father is home to help take care of the children. I want to know how/want we can do to get guardianship over the children, Or I what can I do to get guardianship over them so I may take them to the doctors, apply for food-stamps and such things. To keep them in a stable home as they know here at my house. Cause the mother has tooken them only to drop them off else where, and those people will call me to come and get the kids or they bring them back here. She doesnt take care of them at all. I need to know what I need to do.

Re: Guardianship over my grandchildren

Doesn't sound like guardianship is what you want. That only makes you responsible for the children. Sounds like you want custody. For that you will have to go to court and get an order from the judge.
