Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

guardianship of grand-daughter

I have provided care for my grand daughter for almost 2 years, and my daughter refuses to give me custody, but i cannot get her medical care under my work without a legal document showing that i have guardianship of her. What document should I use? How should I go about getting this done?

Re: guardianship of grand-daughter

You could apply for a guardianship of the child and obtain an order of the court. You could do this over the objections of your daughter, but she might force the subject of possession of the child. Doesn't sound like you have any legal right to possession of the child. If your daughter shows up with the sherriff, they could take the child legally. Maybe you should think about going for custody. If this issue is important to you, you should see a lawyer.
