Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Guardianship

I am the older sister of an 18 year old autistic/downsyndrome girl who my father has guardianship. My mother was promised that she didn't need to contest for co guardianship bc he would be open to her seeing my sister but now he hardly lets my mom visit or let my sister visit. Is there anything around that guardianship that she could apply for more custody so she doesn't lose her daughter all together?

Re: Guardianship

Guardianships are not the same as conservatorships. Conservatorships are through the Family Courts and have authority over children. They normally have provisions for possession and access. Guardianships are through the probate courts can have authority over persons over the age of 18. Guardianships do not usually have possession and access provisions. Your mom needs to talk to a good attorney who handles guardianships.
