Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Hi,
I got a divorce 1 1/2 ago we agreed to split my 401k and for some unknown reason my exwife lawyer just got finished completing the quadrom form, I guest my question would be is their any type of deadline in which this form should have been completed. Her lawyer contacted my lawyer and he informed him to contact me, second question would be is my lawer obligated to see this divorce to completion since I paid him $2,500.My exwife lawyer emailed me the forms and wants a signature. What happens if I dont sign? What should I do at this point?

If the QDRO accurately reflects the division that's shown in the decree, you should sign it (check with your own lawyer first). A new provision in the Family code says that if a lawyer has difficulties getting a QDRO signed, he can ask for the court to award attorney's fees.
The duties that your lawyer has will depend on the specific terms of your contract with him, and what he was obligated to do for $2,500.00.
