home ownership or gain there of

i was married in july, my husband and i purchased a home in september it is in my husbands name with my father in law as cosigner my signature is not on any paperwork i am a victim of fam. viol. can i obtain ownership to the home with or with out payments. i have 4 children one of which is my husbands. he has threatened to put me on the street and has the keys to the family vehicle he has offered the house payment in place of child support if i sign over all claim to the house he states i can get no better.

Home ownership and divorce

Ordinarily, the fact that the house was purchased in your husband's name has nothing to do with its characterization as community property. Your husband will have to pay child support for his child, and you may have a civil claim based on the family violence. Your remaining questions cannot be answered without further knowledge of the facts.
