Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Home Schooling

I'm thinking about home schooling my 12 year old son. I work during the day so I would like to know if it's ok to leave my son at home alone during the day and home school him in the evenings. To my understanding there is no set time required but my concern is him being home during the day.

Re: Home Schooling

That is a judgment call you need to make relative to the safety of your home and the maturity and responsibility of your son. It will also depend upon the proximity of an adult in the event of a problem.

There is no state law regarding the age and length of time to be home alone, particularly for children over 10 years old. It is reviewed case-by-case, if authorities choose to become involved.

You are correct that limited requirements of homeschooling do not specify a time of day or amount of time per day to be schooled.
