Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My husband would like to adopt my adult son. My son is 37 and hasn't heard from his father in over 35 yrs. I would like to know if we can get the forms on line and handle this ourself or do we have to use an attorny?

I am not aware of a forms site which can provide the forms to definitely meet the requirements of the Texas Family Code and local court rules where you case will be filed. However, there are some basic things you can do in representing yourself: 1. Gain knowledge in what ever area of the law your case involves; and 2. Make sure you are aware of the requirements of the court(s) where your case will be filed; and 3. Begin to compile/request copies or duplicates of any records which may be needed in your case.

There are a lot of reputable, Family Law Attorneys in Texas. Whether or not there is one who is a good match for you may involve a phone or telephone consultation with an attorney or firm representative to discuss further the details of your case. In addition to form preparation, there are other concerns including filing the documents, specific court requirements, procedural issues, expertise of the law which may best be handled by an attorney.
