Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
my husband has a child that lives with her mother in texas. the child came to visit us this summer in pa. while she was here she told us things that have been happening at home. things like not having a bed of her own. watching her grandfather physically hit and scream at her mother. vulger behavior and languge that she sees. also says mother sits in bed all day and smokes. on one occasion she has been arrested for being drugged up on prescription drugs in public. the police came to the house while the child was there. there is a long history of drug abuse with the mother. the mother has no job either. she wants to move with her father and myself. how hard would it be to get custody of the child?

Based just on what you have said, it sounds like your husband should have a pretty good chance if what the child told you is true. Your husband needs do a little investigation of his own and then talk to a good family law attorney in Texas.
