Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
My husband and I were contacted last week a woman from his past is saying she has a son that's his. I know they lived together about16 yrs. Ago but hes not for sure if its his and if it is will he have to pay back child support. She has not told him her son was his until last week. We found out that they were married and we are filling a divorce but just not sure what to do about this part. The woman and her son live in corpus christi,tx. And we are in Arkansas.

If the child is his, he will probably have to pay back child support. The law in Texas is that it should be no more than four years back child support (it can be more, if there are special circumstances).
If she files in Arkansas, you should go see a lawyer about jurisdiction. In fact, if she files in TEXAS, go get a lawyer.
Unfortunately, this happens when people are divorcing.
The husband has probably just learned that after all these years he might not be the father of the child he has been "fathering". Often the mother does this to "hurt" him. Of course, this ultimately just hurts the teenage son -- who now learns that his mom was a "slut" & that everything he thought was reality was just a lie.
Please get a lawyer and proceed with caution!
Don't expect this boy to welcome you with open arms! He is probably very angry & very hurt!
