Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
My husband and I want to divorce, but have a lot of debt that was acquired during our marriage. We are robbing Peter to pay Paul right now and are still under the same roof. When we move into separate living arrangements, neither of us will be able to pay much more than the basics.....rent, car, insurance, etc. We have little to no equity in our current home. Is it better to file for bankruptcy, then file for divorce....or can it be done at the same time?

File for bankruptcy first, so that you can file jointly (one case, one lawyer, one filing fee). After the bankruptcy is over, then get the divorce.
