Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
My husband and I did divorce papers online. He filed them at the court house yesterday. I was given a waiver to sign. An item on the form says, Community property (including debts) My sponse and I will try to reach an agrrememt on how our community property and debts are divided. But if we can not agree, I would like the court to decide who gets the items my spouse and i bought while we were married. i would also like for the court to decide who pats the debts that my spouse and I owe. I would like the court to make the decisions in a way that the court believes is fair according to the laws of texas. We have already divided things up. The house was mine before the marriage and we agree onwhat was divided up (furniture and etc.) Is this just part of the basic petition. Should I sign this? Can my husband change anything since the papers have been filed. I think that he will try to pull a fast one on me.

If you can't agree this isn't an uncontested divorce and you shouldn't be trying to do it without an attorney.
