Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
husband filed for divorce
My husband and I have been apart since Aug. 06. He was very abusive during our marriage. In aug. 06 he put me in the hospital and the police came and made a report. Nothing ever came of it, but he did go to jail on a 6 month sentence for assult on my roommates brother in law and damage to a truck. june 07. He filed for divorce july 21, 08 with temp orders for hearing and he wants to be conservator of our 9yr old twin girls. I have had the girls myself all this time, he has not paid any monies toward the welfare of them I have provided for them. He has seen them periodically on the weekends, I have not kept them from him. He was also arrested 2 months ago for sol. of prostitution. Does he have any chance at all of getting cust. of girls? He wants to see them now and we go to temp hearing next thursday, is it okay for them to go see him before court?

Re: husband filed for divorce
If he gets the kids now, he will probably not return them to make you life even more miserable than he already has. Tell him he filed for divorce and requested temporary orders and that's what you want also. But, you better be getting your own attorney or you are going to be at a great disadvantage. One little legal mistake on your part could easily result in him getting the kids.
