Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
My husband has filed for divorce in Texas and I live in another state. He had the papers served to my mother's address after I have informed him that I am living in another city. I informed him that I have not received the papers. He says that he has the court date next month. Can the divorce proceed without my being served? Also, when I do get the papers, if I file a response, what is the average time for a divorce to be finalized in texas?

All you need to know is that there is a divorce filed.
He served your mom. She let you know. You know that your husband wants a divorce.
YOU'VE BEEN SERVED WITH NOTICE OF A LAWSUIT IS PENDING!
Legally, that is all you need to know. Your husband never needs to tell you anything else. He is now feel to divorce you without any further notice to you or your mom. Now the ball is in YOUR COURT (so to speak).
Yes the divoce can proceed. You've been served. Your mom knew how to let you know that a divorce was filed.
You need to file a document called an "answer". I sell this document for $25. Basically, an answer tells the court, hey judge, don't proceed without me!
