Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
My husband gathered up his things and walked out of the house. He took one of the cars, which both of them are in my name. He has been out of work since 6/29 and I have been paying all the bills. We have 2 children. If I file for divorce is there any way that I can make him pay the legal fees for both parties? Also can I take him off the car insurance since he took the car and the car is in my name?

If you change the insurance, do it BEFORE you file.
You can ASK for court-awarded attorney's fees, but you probably won't get them (in other words, the Judge will say NO).
I would not cancel any insurance since they are in YOUR NAME.
You can ask for anything but only a judge can ORDER IT.
You need an experienced family law attorney to assist you.
I would call PATRICIA BUSHMAN at 713-807-9405. Tell her that FRAN sent you. I rent space in her office. She does not talk to people on the phone. You need to go to see her. She will quote you a price when you see her.
She is in court all the time. She offers appointments afternoons, nights and week-ends.
Call her.
Good luck!
You need to speak with an experienced attorney. I have been a board certified specialist in the field of family law for almost 20 years, and would be glad to visit with you. You need to file for divorce and get the Court involved. The Court can enter any order and/or impose any duty on the parties that it deems fit and in the best interest of the child.
