Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

my ex husband and I have joint custody and we were supposed to do week on week off and no child support. he has a history of drinking and being in and out of jail and he made the kids tardy 28 days one year so I have them full time and he gets them every now and then. how hard will it be to change our custody papers to me having full custody and him having to pay child support? Can the attorney generals office do that or do I need to hire a lawyer and start all over?

If your ex "fights" you will have to prove that you have the children the majority of the time. You can use school records, doctor records, testimony of people that know, etc.

I would hire an attorney. The TX A G office is overwhelmed with requests for help. They will take many months to do this.

It appears you live in Houston. If you only need an attorney to draft the paperwork, call me. I charge $2,500 plus all filing fees.

You can also call Attorney Patricia Bushman at 713-807-9405. Her first appointment is free. I don't know what she charges. She is in the courtroom all the time. I rent space in her office.
