Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
My husband and I have been married for 7 years. We have been seperated for a month now. The kids and I are living at my parents house and my husband lives at home. I want to file for child support, but I don't know if I should see a lawyer first and then file for child support. We are not quite certain when we will file for divorce.

In order for you to invoke the jurisdiction of the Court to get a child support order, you will need to file for divorce. You should seek the advice and experience of an attorney to assist you with this process and to have them explain your options to you. I am a board certified specialist in the field of family law, practicing in the general Houston area. Please contact me directly if you desire to learn more about your options.
