Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Before my husband and I met he was with a woman who no one believed. She had verbally abused him and previous relationships. He broke up with her (after 2 months) and she told him he can't leave her because she's pregnant. No one believed her including his family and she moved to another city. We just found out that she did in fact have a child that is the right age and looks exactly like my husband. He wants some rights to the child. He just doesn't know what he can legally have. We know there would have to be a court ordered paternity test.

He can file a paternity suit. It will have to be filed in the county where the mother lives.
He can ask for full custody if he wants to. Or he can ask for standard visitation.
He will likely be paying child support for the next 16 years or so.
There does NOT have to be a court-ordered paternity test if he and mother both agree that the child is his.
