Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
my husband is paying child support for two children in texas. His Child support is based off of his military pay and since has left the service about 5 years ago. We have been able to keep up with the payment for the most part til now. he is only bring in 1200 per month and we are now a low income family. How to we go about getting this changed without having to travel to TX too many times.

He can contact the mother to see if she will agree to a reduction in child support. If so, then a petition to modify can be filed with the court and an agreed order entered. It's not expensive and may not even require a visit to Texas. Without such an agreement, it's much more difficult. If she does not agree, then it is possible to get the Texas AG's office to assist for free. If not, you will have to reatin an attorney.
