Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My husband and I have seperated and are planning to get a divorce we have 3 children the oldest is 3 in dec and the other two are twins and are 6 1/2 months I live in texas with my children and he lives in north carolina he says because he filed for seperation in north carolina and the custody hearing will be in north carolina I need to know what my rights are since I will have the children. He will not fight me for custody.
