Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My husband & I seperated in sept 2008. He filed for divorce in nov 2008. We went to court in feb 2009 for temp orders for our 3 kids. I didn't employ an attorney because he gave me custody of the kids and that is all I wanted. Here we are almost 2 years later and we still havent been to court for a final hearing because he owes his attorney 1500.00. I went ahead & hired my own attorney & every time he files for a court date my husband's lawyer files for a continuance because he is still owed money. Now my lawyer has adviced me to pay his lawyer. Is there any thing I can do to finish this without paying his attorney. Let me mention that I am now a single mother with 3 kids and my ex is 10,000.00 behind on child support.

It is unethical for an attorney to advise a person on the specifics of their case, when they are already represented by an attorney. Have a heart-to-heart meeting with your lawyer, and express your concerns. He/she may well be able to resolve your concerns, and if not to your satisfaction, get a new lawyer.
