Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Need to know all the information I can on child custody and child support
my ex girlfriend went through the attorney generals office to collect on child support and backpay for my four year old daughter. Now ever since the begining my ex has lied to me and told me many times that my daughter is not mine, she even went as far as to have another man sign the birth ceritifcate and she's told me that he wants me to sign away my rights because he says that i've never been there for my daughter. But i have tried to see her all of my attepts in the past have failed and my ex has told me everytime that i will never see my daughter again. I've recently got married and am about to have a son with my wife and when my exgirlfriend got word, she starts this whole court battle issue. Now I know that I'm going to have to pay child support because I did have a DNA test done and possibily backpay, But what i want to know is if I can seek joint and legal custody, if at all possible full custody while also changing the birth ceritifcate to have me showing as the father. I know that's a long shot but my ex doesn't work and is being supported by her 3rd childs father whereas both my wife and i work for a university and have stable lives.

You can likely be a Joint Managing Conservator with the child's mother and she will determine the primary residence of the child. I didn't see anything in your statement that indicated any likelihood that you could get custody. Sounds like an uphill, expensive legal battle with little likelihood of success. As part of the child support case, you can request language in the order to change the birth certificate if you want to pay the fee. The judge might order that she obtain and pay because of her alleged deception. That's just a possibility.

You really need to talk to an attorney about your rights, duties and responsibilities.
For example, if you are the Dad then the child's birth certificate needs to be changed. It's NOT up to the Mom!
You obviously don't understand Texas family law.
The Texas Family Code is available on line.
Also, the Texas Attorney General, Greg Abbott's, website is pretty good explaining a parent's rights.
You can visit my website for links to popular Texas legal websites.
Good luck!
