Joint custody is presumed in the State of Texas. So you automatically get it if you ask for it.

You an read the TX Family Code which is available on-line for free. Just "google" Texas Family Code. It was recently revised (as it is every 2 years) by the Texas Legislature and a few minor changes went into effect 9/1/2013.

Child support is based on your "net resources" and the number of children you support. It is a formula. A new chart went into effect 9/1/2013. The TX A G office produces the chart (authorized by the TX Legislature). You can look on their website. There are several TX calculators that are pretty good (aka fairly accurate -- in the ballpark) available for free on the internet.

I would strongly encourage you to hire a TX family law attorney to help you.

Please do not try to use a do it yourself kit - they are junk! Worthless!

Look on this website and on www.avvo.com for an attorney in your county. Many offer a free consultation. Many accept payment plans.

Good luck!
