Joint custody

What is considered joint custody? My son's father has my son on tuesday's, thursday's and every other weekend. Would that be considered joint custody?

Re: Joint custody

Based on what you have written, joint custody is conservatorship in Texas. Conservatorship is the parents ability to control the affairs of thier minor children. You need to obtain a court order which establishes child conservatorship, visitation, and support. Re: Joint custody

Joint Custody has nothing to do with how much time you have with your child. It has to do with what parental rights and duties you have. What you are describing is possession and access. If you both have nearly equal rights to make decisions for the child then you most likely have joint custody or joint managing conservatorship.
