Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I have joint custody with my ex. My 16 year old daughter does not want to visit her dad at his home since he remarried and has new children plus he won't stop calling me unfit and not a good role model to my girls even though I have never been in trouble with the law or this was never was said while we were married or separated for nearly 2 years, it is only since he met this new woman who is educated which I am not since I chose to be a stay at home mom for 21 years. My daughter only wants to go to dinner with her dad and that is it. She is wanting to know at what age can she legally not have to be forced into seeing him, we are hearing anything from age 12 to 17 and would like to know the right legal answer. We live in Austin, TX

The answer is 18.

You can read the TX Family Code on-line.

I encourage you to consult with an experienced family law attorney in Austin, TX. You have a complex problem and you really need to sit down in person with an attorney and discuss your situation in person. This free website is not an appropriate place to discuss your problems in detail.

I encourage you to put your daughter into counseling for her sake. It sounds like she is going through a lot at a young age.

Good luck!
