Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Joint or Sole Custody and steps to writing the decree

I have filed for divorce from my ex and the 60 day waiting period for texas is over today. He has not answered because he is unsure what he should do. We are ready to proceed but I don't know what to do next. We have a 3 year old daughter and I am unsure whether or not to ask for full or joint custody. Our divorce is amicable, there is no property, just need the decree and want to make the best decision for our daughter. What should I do next?

Hire a good family law attorney. A divorce with children is not a DIY kind of thing. Any mistakes you make now can hurt you (and your daughter) for years to come. Many family law attorneys will work with you on payments and the money you spend now will most assuredly save you money and problems in the future.

I offer a DO IT YOURSELF DIVORCE KIT for people that don't want to fight.

I do the decree and the other documents that you need. My kit can work anywhere in Texas. It was specifically designed for Harris County but my forms are what the judges are used to seeing.

My cost for a kit, meeting with you and discussing your divorce is around $350 withthout a house and just one kid. Be sure to remind me of the price I quoted. My schedule is light the next two weeks and I have time to meet with you. I normally charge around $500 for this kit with kids.
