Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Judge Conflict of Interest
Would it be considered a conflict of interest if a district judge hearing a child custody case is the ''boss'' of a party in the case? Example: The stepmother of the child in question is the chief juvenile probation officer in a county. The District Judge, also a former procecutor in the same county, is the person who hears the juvenile cases for the juvenile probation office and is also responsible for hiring/appointing the Chief Juvenile Probation Officer. The mother in the case lives out of county and was not aware of the relationship, and neither was her attorney. It has been over 3 months and the judge has refused to rule on the case. What is the best way to handle the situation?

It needs to be discussed with her attorney.
