Without researching the issue, I am not aware of a time limitation on the judge to issue a ruling. On the other hand, it can be presumed that a reasonable time is limited, and if an ruling is not forthcoming within a month, your attorney could file a motion prompting a ruling. If it gets extended, a mandamus could be in order. The obvious problem, is that you don't want to be the pest, if you think it is going to affect the outcome of the case.
