Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

judgement effecting parent- child relationship

Is it possible for me to file the paper work and represent myself in making modifications to a current judgement? Currently the parental grandparents of my 8yr. old son have the sole right to determine his place of residence. He has lived ther since 1996. The father has recently moved into the home and began verbally and physically abusing my child. I contacted C.P.S.' there investigation is currently on going, but they told me that because ''the'' child had no bruises, there was nothing that they could do. I have tried to get legal assistance, but cannot afford it, is there something else I can do????????

It is possible if you know where the forms are, which forms to use, how to use them, where to file them, what to say, when and how to say it. If you want to invest the time and money to be prepared for your case, you can represent yourself. Many people decide to use a lawyer because it is more cost and time effective.

Re: judgement effecting parent- child relationship

My car's air conditioning has quit working. I can fix it myself. I even know one lawyer who fixed his own car. Since I know nothing about cars, I get a mechanic to fix it. I spent 12 years in school getting a high school diploma. I spent 4 years getting an undergraduate degree. I spent 3 years in law school. I have practiced law for awhile. My answer depends on whether you want to win your case. You have the right to represent yourself. It is your choice.
