Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Judgment

If child support is paid directly to the custodial parent, and that parent disappears until the child is over 18 then files for back child support, can the non-custodial parent ask for a paternity test? There is some question about paternity. Also the court reduced the child support to a judgement, what exactly does this mean? If the paternity test is negative, will this affect the judgement?

Re: Judgment

How can child support be paid "directly" to someone who disappeared. If you had proof that you had paid CS for 18 years, you should have shown it at the hearing which resulted in the judgment. The judgment probably included a finding that the child was born of the marriage and is most likely final by now. Legal procedures exist to appeal a final judgment, but it can be intricate and expensive. You would be better off to hire a lawyer if you want to explore the questions you've asked.
