Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

jurisdiction

I hope you can help. My friend was her own attorney in Texas. Under divorce and then modification she asked to keep TX jurisdiction even though moving to AL because she was unsure of laws. She now wants to move jurisdiction to AL, but cannot get anyone in TX to advise her. Can this be done?

Re: jurisdiction

Your friend would be better served consulting with an AL attorney. In Texas, jurisdiction is not actually moved, but a foreign order can be registered here, enforced here, and sometimes modified here. Her need now is to find out what options are available under AL law.
