Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My kids mother is contesting the end of child support for my 18 year old son who's graduated from high school this past June. She was mailed papers from Cooke County with an October 3rd date to have a modification on child support for my youngest son who is 16 because she's mad that I am ending child support when my oldest is starting college in August and she wanted child support to last a few more years to help with college.

She wants me to pay for all her court costs and has said that I can not have contact with my youngest (16) unless it's through her or her lawyer, Again, this is because I have petitioned to have child support stop for my oldest who's 18 and finished with HS.

She lives with my boys 5 hours away and my job at the railroad does not allow me to take off at random since my job takes me out of town on runs for up to 2 days at a time and I'm on a rotating board. Can someone represent my interests on October 3?

I live in the Cypress area and can not afford some over the top lawyer, remember I am a railroader.

I have paid my child support from the get go and have missed nothing! I have filed my own papers on stopping the child support to date because from what I understand (and as it states in my papers) this is to happen when the my son graduates HS.

Last point: It does not state in my papers what the child support should amount to $$ wise once the first son is dropped and continue on to for the remaining last 2 years for my youngest son through HS. Why it was never broken down I don't know. I currently pay $800.00 a month for 2 boys. My salary is $90,000.00, what would I pay for my 16 year old for the last 2 years when it is modified?

Advise please. TY.

I did a quick calculation. But it is impossible to calculate since I don't know what you pay per month for the child's health insurance -- it is important to know that number!

If you make $90,000 a year - for one child at 20% with NO health insurance deduction (it would save you money) then you would be looking at $1,119.77/month in child support based on my i-phone's Texas child support calculator.

I recommend that you immediately call Patricia Bushman at 713-807-9405.

Her first appointment is Free. She takes payment plans. Tell her that I sent you. I rent space in her office. I only mediate these days.
