Re: Law Change

Your best bet would be to contact you district State representative and/or State Senator. The office administrators will tell you how best to present your petition.

Re: Law Change

You need to start NOW to try to get your change passed in Texas.

There is a committee with the State Bar of Texas Family Law Section that works with legislature members to get laws changed. You might also want to contact them.

Basically, your work has just begun. You need to find a legislature member that is willing to sponsor your change. After the bill has been sponsored by one or more legislative members, you need to contact everyone in the legislature to make sure they know about your change.

You and your supporters need to go to Austin and meet with legislature members to encourage them to vote for your change and the reasons why the change should occur.

You need to contact legislative members throughtout the State of Texas.

There are specific days that groups to to the legislature and meet with members. I don't know how you go about doing it.

If you just submit it, likely it will not go any farther.

If you want legislative change, you and your supporters need to write, fax, email and visit personally people that will vote for the passage of your bill.
