Lawsuit Settlement

I have a lawsuit that will soon be done and over with. My injury occurred in 2003 with surgeries in 2003 and 2004. This happened in Nebraska. I moved to Texas at the end of 2005 and recently married in December 2008. No, there isn't a divorce inthe future. My question is this; since my injuries and lawsuit was long before ever meeting my husband or even getting married - would he have any say in my settlement? I guess the reason why I am asking is because I don't want him to have any control of the outcome of my lawsuit. Thank you.

Your injuries are "personal" and the proceeds of any recovery are separate, not community, property. Do not commingle the proceeds with any community property asset.
