Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Lawyer Not Acting Right

My husband and I were in court in October of 2006. At that point, we agreed with the x-wife and her lawyer, what the child support payments would be. Last words spoke in the courthouse and in front of the judge was what we agreed upon. The lawyer stated at that time that he would call us to come and sign the agreement before it was filed. To date, we have not heard a word from the lawyer. Two days ago, the x-wife called and said that her lawyer was going to sue her for the money that she owes him, although that was part of the agreement in court (that we would also pay him, but wanted that money to be deducted with the child support from his paycheck). Everything was agreed upon in court, but he never had us come and sign the papers. Now he is threatening to sue the x-wife. Is that right? What can we/she do?

Re: Lawyer Not Acting Right

You can try to work this out with the lawyer or have another lawyer work it out and maybe be paid from money that would have gone to the first lawyer.
