Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Do I need a Lawyer?
I'm being sued for child support for my daughter in the state of Georgia and I live in Texas. My daughter turned 18 this year in March and graduated high school in May. I have supported her for at least 16 years without a court order $200 a month voluntarily and medical/health care thru my job. I was military and was set to retire in 2012, I contacted her mother and informed her of my retirement and to let her know that I will be attending college full time and not employed. In June of 2012 I stopped my $200 monthly allotment to her, I'm not employed my GI Bill is paying for school and my pension of $2500 monthly is paying my bills (barely) along with my wife's salary. I fathered my daughter out of wedlock and has been married to my only wife for 18 years. On the 30th of May 2013 I was served court papers, So will I have to back pay for those 10/11 months of no payments and possibly a lots more and is it all worth hiring a lawyer?

Yes!!!
Look on this website and on www.avvo.com
You will need to prove that you have been supporting her. Otherwise, you are potentially going to be hit with retro-child support. I don't practice law in Georgia so I don't know GA law.

It does not matter that you don't work.
