What is the legal age at which a child can leave the home and under what conditions could this be done

A child becomes an adult at 18, with the right to sign rent contracts, and make legally binding decisions. HOWEVER, once a child turns 17 they are no longer charged with running away or truancy from school. It is a one-year limbo. TCL
