Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
leaving my husband, I want custody of my children. can I move to another city? what am I allowed to take?

Yes you are allowed to relocate. However, you will want to consider what county you move to because you will need to live there long enough for the court to have jurisdiction for the divorce. As to what you can take, that is a difficult question to answer. You have full rights for any of your separate property. You also have possession rights on community property. If you and your husband are going to fight over custody, split of the community property, child support, or any other major issues, you will need an attorney. If you cannot afford one, contact the county bat association and ask for referrals to free or low cost resources. Good luck.
