Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
legal adulthood
i am 18 years old, and i have a 5 month old baby, i am a senior in highschool. i had alot of problems living at home with my mom so i moved out. i was absent from school to take my son to the doctor. the school still requests a note from my mom for being absent eventhough i have moved out and we are not on speaking terms, and they call my mom for everything, is that legal or is there something i can do about it??

That is really interesting.
You need to talk to someone about the district policy.
When my daughter turned 18, I still received information from the school.
However, in the Grapevine area (close to Dallas) once my nephew turned 18, they would not communicate with his mother. In fact, he wrote his own excused absence notes.
Technically the day you turn 18 you are an adult and I don't think they should be communicating with your parents without your permission.
For example, the day my daughter turned 18 her doctor required her to fill out a HIPAA release to talk to me about her blood tests.
Good luck!
