Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Legal age to decline visitation

At what age in the State of Texas does a child have the right to say no to visitation as outlined in the devorce papers. I would also like to know chapter and verse where this is stated in Texas Law. I need a copy to show my wife's X.

Thank You

Re: Legal age to decline visitation

First, thank you for a wonderful question. It was short, concise and to the point.

Second, the child is covered by the Texas Family Code until the child reaches 18 years of age.

I briefly looked over my Sampson & Tindall's Txas Family Code Annotated today and could not locate an exact section number to refer you to with some exact wording that would be helpful to you.

The following might point you in the right direction -- Chapter 152.201 covers Initial Child Custody Jurisdiction.

Chapter 153.001 concerns Public Policy for the State of Texas.

Chapter 153 is the section on Conservatorship, Possession and Access of children.

I hope this helps.

Best of luck to you.
